A Little About Me

I grew up on a farm in Southern Kentucky. My family raised tobacco, corn, soybeans, hay, cattle, and hogs. Most of my earliest memories are flooded with the bright sunlight and stifling heat one experiences while walking the endless rows of a tobacco patch. I learned the value of hard work at a young age. I am glad I was able to experience farm life, and I am grateful for the lessons that can only be learned with the sun on your back and sweat in your eyes.
 
I started my college career at the University of Kentucky but transferred to Western Kentucky University when the distance between Lexington and my high school sweetheart, who was at college in Nashville, became more than either of us wanted to deal with. We got married once she finished college and moved to Nashville after I received my business degree from WKU. I spent the next several years working in retail banking before taking a leap of faith and leaving the corporate world to go to law school.

Journey to the Law

I always had an interest in going to law school and becoming an attorney. It seemed like a far-fetched goal and a lofty aspiration, but when Belmont University announced it was going to start a law school, it seemed like an opportunity I could not pass up. My wife is a Belmont graduate and had only great things to say about the school. Being a part of the inaugural class, the Charter Class, seemed exciting and after much prayer and deliberation, I knew I had to do it. Beginning the study of law at a brand-new law school with a two-year old daughter and a three-month old son seems crazy when I think back on it, but with the support of my wife, my family, and my friends, we made it work! The time I spent as a member of Belmont University College of Law’s first class, is a season of life I will always treasure. There’s nothing like being a part of something from the beginning and I cannot wait to see Belmont’s growth and maturity over the years.
 
I have had the opportunity to practice in a variety of areas of the law and in many different jurisdictions in Middle Tennessee. The area I enjoy the most is real estate law and I am fortunate to work with a great team at Crow Estate Planning & Probate where new and interesting issues often arise. It is my goal to learn and improve – to be better. I believe that I have the opportunity to do just that and look forward to making a difference with this team.
